Trading Links - Is It Still An Effective Marketing Strategy? Empty Trading Links - Is It Still An Effective Marketing Strategy?

Hi,
Backlinks can provide your website with authority and any Online marketer will tell you that. Time was that people used to trade links with different websites as a way to build up the number of backlinks they had. But with all the changes that Google has made over time, is this still regarded as a good marketing and advertising technique? Here i will be talking about trading links to see if it's still worth it.

So essentially a backlink is a website link that points from one website to another site. These backlinks are viewed as votes for your site by the major search engines like Google. And when you can develop a large amount of links the search engines will compensate your Internet site with far better rankings in their results. But one thing you need to keep in mind is that every backlink that is built has a different value in the search engine eyes. If you have a link on a link page of a site that has a page rank of 5 you will find that the link will be really worth more if it was actually on the home page. You need to check out the actual page rank where your link is located to ascertain its value, but the home page rank can make a slight difference in value.

One thing you must realize about people when they trade links, is that the link they add to your site is usually on a deeper page of the site. And that reduces the quality of that link. In addition these link web pages can end up with 100s or even 1000s of other links directed to other sites. Google doesn't like to notice this type of thing so obviously these links aren't really counted.

Something else that many of you may already know is that Google likes one way links rather than link exchanges. For those of you that are unaware a one way backlink is when you don't have to link back to the Internet site that has your link on it. When Google sees one way links they offer that link more power than a link that has been exchanged. You can even hurt your rankings if you end up trading backlinks with Internet sites that have a bad reputation with Google. And that is certainly not what you are trying to do, but it can occur when you trade links.

Trading links can be useful to you if the Internet site is trusted, has a good page ranking and also features a steady flow of visitors. If your website link ends up getting concealed on some deeper page of the site there is a good chance that the page where your link is, just isn't even indexed by Google. The problem is that most sites that trade backlinks actually have a links page that doesn't get indexed. In short you will find just one or two ways to make link trading work to your advantage and it can be extremely time intensive to do them, however you can find other methods to develop one way links.
