Hi,
Optimizing a website is as easy as 1, 2, 3. There is a variety of software and services being offered all over the internet but if you know the basics, search engine optimization is something you can successfully do on your own. There are two types of optimizing a website. These are the on-site and the off-site search engine optimization.

If you intend to optimize a page, it is suggested to have it done onsite and offsite for best results.

ON SITE

Onsite refers to all the techniques you can undertake within your site. These are the techniques you could use as you build your site. The first thing you must do is to select all the contents you will put in/on your website. These can be pictures, videos, podcasts and articles. The next step is to make sure these contents are properly indexed by search engines. This is done by selecting the relevant keywords for the site and using those keywords as tags in the content.

Using meta tags are also part of the onsite search engine optimization. This is using the keywords in the first forty characters of every post. Doing this makes it possible for the search engines to get the site indexed so it can appear in search engine results page.

OFF SITE

Offsite pertains to all optimization efforts done around the website. It can be a series of marketing campaigns using bookmarks, articles and press releases. These are written materials which are submitted in directories and other related sites. Forum and blog posting is also part of offsite search engine optimization.

Just like the onsite techniques, there is a need to use keywords for every submission. However, it must be remembered that there are rules in order to make the site search engine optimized. A good example of a mistake when using this technique is when some optimizers incorporate as many keywords as they possibly can into an article. There are so many keywords placed in the article that in the end, there is almost no sense in the article left. Also, search engines penalize this - so instead of optimizing the site, it does the opposite.

Another rule is when using bookmarking sites. Be sure to use only about a maximum of ten submissions each day in order to avoid being marked as spam.

These are just few of the techniques which can be used in optimizing a site. Make sure to optimize your site to get the most of it.
