Types of Search Engines
Hi Everybody,
There are basically four types of search engines these are
1. Crawler based search engine
2. Directories
3. Hybrid Search Engines
4. Meta Search Engines
Lets start with Crawler Based Search Engine. These kind of search Engines uses automated software programs which travels on web and grab the web pages and categories the same. These automated programs have different names for different search engines like Spiders, Robots, Bots, crawlers etc. Each crawler grabs a copy of the web page to analyze the available information on it then it adds the web page to the Google databases. The most relevant web pages from the SEs database are shown when a search takes place. These crawlers traveling on web constantly to add and update the search engines database to provide the quality results.
In case of Directory search engines human editors are performing the task of crawlers they adding the website in the most relevant category of the directory database along with some useful information. Hybrid Search Engines, as the name suggested are the combination of both the aforesaid SEs. These search engines also allows the human editors to add their own website link to its database. Now a days most of the search engines are comes in this type.
Meta Search Engines are the kind of search engines which takes the results from other SEs. They dont have their own database rather than this they use other search engines database to show the results, the user is looking for and shows a long list of results. Few of the examples of meta search engines are Dog pile, Mamama etc.
