Which type of logo will suit your company depends on the considerations such as the size of your company, how unique name it carries, and the variety of other factors. Here following are the types of logos and a little information about them.

Text logo

A text logo is also sometimes called as a logotype or word mark. A text logo is a mainly made up of the text of the company’s name. These types of logos have some elements like lines, boxes, borders that can interact with its surroundings and even also with the letters. However the graphics elements should always be used with an accent to the text and not as the major or equally weighted part of the logo. A text logo works well if you are having a multi-word name for your business, that are not commonly or simply abbreviated, or when not abbreviation is not appropriate developing a text logo will keep the logo design as simple and clean as possible. Business name is enough to make the logo memorable if it is unique and innovative. Trademark protection is highly important as long as you have a unique business name, then a text logo should also be unique.

Symbol logo

These types of logos are extremely opposite to the text logos. They do not include words or letters, but they are made up of symbols, images and shapes. A symbol logo works well when your company is having a high level of brand recognition. If your company is well known then you can use a symbol logo for an elegant and clean solution. If you have build up enough brand recognition then your brand symbol can stand alone. This transition is common for designing logo to take when your company grows. If you have your own unique symbol in the industry you would not be confused or mistaken as any one else in your industry. You can trademark your logo and you would be ensured that your logo is uniquely yours only.

Combination logo

A logo that has both a symbol and company’s name is known as combination logo. They both can be integrated together, side by side, or with one above the other. These types of logos are most commonly used logos for several reasons. This type of logos offer both a memorable logo graphic that tells about who you are and the business you are involved and your business name for easy identification. This type of logo is a great choice if you are a small, or medium sized company or just starting out. These types of logos are easier to copyright and they protect the symbol and always will be used as the conjunction with the business name.
