Google is a household name in many countries, and when you need some information people will be quick to tell you to, "Google it." If you have a website and you don't see it in Google, then you need to do something about it. The Internet is growing at warp speeds and organizing it is a big deal. This task has been accomplished by search engines; the largest of which are Google, Yahoo, and Bing. If you want people to find your site and visit it, then you should put in the effort to optimize it the right way. SEO or search engine optimization is a lifesaver for those of us who don't have a huge budget to pay experts to advertise our sites for us. Unfortunately, SEO is one of the fields where there is too much bad advice going around for someone who doesn't know any better to be able to tell the difference. This article will introduce you to some basic SEO pitfalls to stay away from.

When people first start with a website, they often try SEO by using words that don't specify anything. Yes, keywords happen to be an important element of SEO, but if you go on and stuff a high number of keywords in your content, then it will only get you into trouble with the search engines as they will penalize your website for spamming. You'll lose your ranking due to the over abundance of the keywords on your site, which means you'll lose the traffic too. Your visitors won't like it as they only want sites that are understandable and offer the help they need. Consider how long your site takes to load within a browser, as this can matter to your visitors as well as to the search engines. If your site contains messy code or is overloaded with convoluted code, it will make your site load more slowly in a visitor's browser, which is something Google doesn't like. This is why you should aim to have an external CSS file, not an internal one. External CSS files can be excellent for improving your site's loading speed and can also be a more efficient way to update your site later. Search engines want to offer their users the best possible results, in terms of content, information and relevance, so your aim is to appeal to those search engines. In other words, your site should behave well with your visitors and as well as the search engines.

Ignoring or overlooking the guidelines offered by the search engines is a big mistake.
This is why it's necessary to memorize those guide lines so that you can avoid any mistakes that will get you banned from the searches. The search engines are constantly altering their rues so it's important to look them up as often as you can so that you never incur a penalty. For instance, when we look at Google, we see it changing its search engine algorithm on a regular basis, so if you don't go by their rules, your ranking will probably fall.

Search engine optimization is the perfect solution for anybody who wants a long-term traffic source that will bring targeted visitors to your site for years to come. SEO requires you to stay consistent and persistent; do this and you will beat the competition. It takes time to see results, which is perfectly fine. As long as you choose the right keywords and have good content for your site, SEO should be able to give your online marketing a big boost.
