Micro blogging can be useful for increase site traffic or not ?

I have only idea about micro blogging and I heard from many peoples that micro blogging is useful for traffic purpose. I want to know your ideas about micro blogging that how can I use it for increase my site traffic.

Micro-sites are great. I tried everything but one of my websites was stuck at third page of Google for more than 7 months for the major keyword. But nor it is on first page on 7th position !

Micro blogging is very important in getting your site ranked in search engines.Search engines like yahoo and bing pays huge attention to the micro sites.These sites are also effective in saving the site from spam.

There are no doubt that micro blogging is going to be a great source of getting traffic.This is why many people are joining with the site like twitter.
