Step 1: When you find a site/page/twitter profile/etc that seems influential in some way, take time to engage with it in a meaningful way (i.e. leave a comment, link to it, retweet it, etc) without asking for anything or doing anything promotional in nature (i.e. don’t leave a comment calling attention to your site, etc).

Step 2: Engage with it again (and again and again and again)

Step 3: After you feel confident that you’ve added value to the influencer in question, attempt to reach out directly to said individual. (if you’re not sure that you’ve added sufficient value refer to Step 2 above)

Step 4: Don’t get upset or demoralized if you’re rejected. Just keep adding value and engaging. Karma has a way of working itself out.
