Hi,
Both do follow and no follow links are important in the search engine optimization. A no follow link is a HTML attribute value that is used to give instructions to the search engine that the hyperlink is not supposed to influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search results and preventing spam indexing from occurring in the first place.

A do follow link is a HTML attribute value that is used to give instructions to the search engine that the hyperlink should be influenced in the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. Search engine algorithm is a machine that counts. The nature of any algorithm is to attach numeric values to real life functions so as to calculate a real life result. Hence we have engines such as Google. Google places a huge percentage of its ranking result value on inbound links to a website. And for the longest time Google placed links which blocked search engine travel by using a no follow code.

The difference between a normal link and a link with the no follow attribute is that the no follow link tells the engines not to follow or index the targeted link, which consequently pass no SEO procedures to the targeted site. Human searchers see no difference in a no-follow link.

Both back-Links have great importance in ranking a website. However some SEO consultants took advantage of the situation and started messing forums, blogs and other channels by posting their links. This act of the consultants caused a change in algorithms because they were creating problems for the engines to identify the best result for the query. Fortunately Google and other engines got a solution to prevent ranking of real sites from damaging. They introduced another HTML Attribute for the site owners who don't want their websites to be used for SEO Purpose. That HTML Attribute helped a lot in stopping consultants from posting their links or spamming on their sites.

In most situations both links are equally important to the ranking of any website. The former helps the visitors to your site easily get to your site. While adding a link to an anchor text, you have the option of either using either. Most webmasters know the different between the two but there are still many that don't. To many, the difference is very insignificant while to others it is very important. However do follow links are more beneficial for increasing the page ranking of your site and the other has no benefit at any manner.
