I built backlinks to my inner pages only. Was it wrong? Empty I built backlinks to my inner pages only. Was it wrong?

Hi,
I started my site 5 months ago. I've started building backlinks for 3 months.
The thing is I haven't got PR 1 even though I have built some very quality backlinks which are sending some traffic every day.

I didn't build many backlinks to my home page but I built backlinks to my key pages.

Is it right or wrong?

PS: google update happened recently and I now have to wait for another 3 months at least.
