Hi,
Google announced a change to its search algorithm this November. Google has announced that this change/update in the algorithm will impact the search results and also the SEO process will be now little simpler. The main objective of this update according to Google is to give high quality results, that is, results which are more relevant to the search query made.
This update will also affect the SERPs of the web pages. These changes done by Google definitely require some rethinking by SEO marketers to understand how exactly it works. This new search algorithm knows different types of searches that have fresh needs, and weighs/ranks them accordingly.

Now if the search is done related to some recent events or recent news, Google will show the search results that are just few minutes old at the top of the webpage. For some regular happening events or occasions it is understood that users are more interested in the results that are latest and so Google shows that results even if users doesn't use keywords indicating it.

There will be no "Sandbox" with the introduction of "Freshness update" as an extension of Google Caffeine. This update is specifically for decreasing the rankings of "content farms". Moreover, if your website has a dynamic sitemap submitted to the Google Webmaster Tools, the indexing time frame will be down by 15 minutes. So the websites with unique and steady content will get more priority now in the search engine rankings.

Some changes that an SEO expert might want to consider for getting better results with this algorithm update are - Lower keyword density now comparatively, more of natural linking instead of all optimized terms, and getting more back-links from industry expert sites.
During this announcement, Google said "Google depends on the high quality content created by wonderful websites around the world, and we do have a responsibility to encourage a healthy web ecosystem. Therefore, it is important for high quality sites to be rewarded and that's exactly what this change does". Initially Google has launched this change in USA and gradually in coming few weeks or months it will be seen in every country.
