Using Good Web Design to Support Business Goals

1) Simple and easy to-understand navigation. People should always be able to browse your site without a struggle. They need to find the information they're looking for without any hassles or they'll end up clicking away.

2) Company branding. Your website should have a prominent logo and colors that differentiate you from your competition. You want prospects and customers to be able to recognize you immediately.

3) Compelling content. Your website has to explain why consumers should choose your company. By focusing on what prospects find important instead of what you find interesting, you'll be able to increase conversions and make more sales. Make sure you're discussing the problems your prospects face and then set your company up as the solution.

4) Include social media functionality if appropriate. Some companies don't use or need social media. But if you do have a Twitter or Facebook account (for example) make sure your site integrates these properties so visitors can share your content, special offers or contact information easily. All social media properties have 'buttons' that can be added to websites with a minimum of fuss.

5) Clear contact information. I would recommend a 'form' that people are able to use to fill in their questions and contact information. This way, you'll be able to stay in touch and maintain a connection with your leads. Make sure to include your phone number as well as some people don't feel comfortable providing their details up front.
