Some of the basic strategy to optimize the website includes :

1.The SEO technique that you adopt should be "White Hat" rather than the "Black Hat". White Hat technique involves building contents for users and not for spiders or web crawlers. Black Hat technique involves method of deception like cloaking or using hidden texts of other popular websites.

2. The domain name should be one of the keyword inside that describes the site. For example, if your website is books tickets online, then the word "ticket" or something related to it like "trip" should be present.

3. Use popular searchable keywords. You can get them from Google Keyword Tool.

4. Text should be rich and stuffed with popular searchable keywords. Loud speaking header makes it attractive. Frequently update your text to be at par with the market.

5. Review each page and interlink sequentially.

6. Apart from interlinking, a site map is necessary for guidance.

7. Normalizing your URL by using multiple urls, meta tag or 301 redirects, increases link status score.

8. Finally use link baiting to popularize your site like blog, facebook, forums, etc.
