Disadvantages of Software for Web Pages Empty Disadvantages of Software for Web Pages

When you need a website and have little knowledge in computers, you must look at the options. You can hire someone to build the website for you, which is expensive. You can use an online website builder, or you can use software for web pages. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. There are many disadvantages to using software for web pages.

First, software for web pages is usually very expensive. It only comes with so many templates, and additional ones usually cost extra. Additional features may cost extra as well. On the other hand, an online site builder will usually cost only one amount that includes everything the builder has to offer. The amount never changes and it never goes up, and you never have additional costs for additional features and benefits. Instead, you have a predictable monthly payment that is minimal compared to the cost of paying for a website.

Additionally, the software may not have all the features that you are looking for, such as a shopping cart. If it does have these features, they may be more limited than what you can experience from an online site builder. In fact, the shopping cart on most software for web pages is either so complex that you can't figure it out, or so simple that you cannot do with it what you want to.

Another disadvantage to software for web pages is that it takes up space on your hard drive. When you use an online website builder, there is nothing to download so the resources of your computer are available for other things. This is a huge advantage for people with systems that only have enough memory to run what is absolutely necessary.

Software also has other down sides. For example, the templates and graphics selections tend to be quite limited. This is due to the fact that the software must be downloaded or purchased and installed, and adding too many graphics or templates to the package would slow the process down so much that no one would want to use the product. However, the very fact that these things are limited is in itself a major downside to software. On the other hand, online site builders offer thousands of templates and graphics for your use in building your website.

Another down side to software is that you often have to pay for updates. Updates may include new templates and graphics, or may just make the software easier to use. These newer versions of the software cost as much as the software costs in the first place. However, with an online site builder the web application is updated regularly, and at no additional cost to you whatsoever.
