SEO Takes Commitment
Hi,
One of the first things most people learn about SEO is that it is a long term online marketing strategy. It isn't going to pay off within a week and may even take months to really start showing impressive results. In some cases the big rewards don't kick in for years. This is especially true for beginners trying to learn the ropes of SEO as they go along. There will be mistakes along the way that the process back if they aren't working with SEO professionals.
This is one simple way that SEO requires commitment, but that isn't the only way. Search engine optimization also requires commitment because many choices need to be made once and stuck with for the long term. All too often, seemingly small changes in the SEO plan can set the project back weeks, months or even years.
Since SEO builds up steam over time, when these changes are made all of the building done in the past is lost. Let's give a quick example of how these small changes can undo all of that previous ground that was gained:
1. Keywords are chosen for a new website and the word "government loans" is selected as a primary target for the site.
2. An SEO campaign is built up around "government loans," encompassing lots of backlinks from other sites as well as tons of valuable on-site content exploring government loans as a topic.
3. The website owner takes more of an interest in private bank loans and wants to change the focus of the website from government loans to a "private bank loans."
This may seem like a fairly simple change, but it is incredibly complicated. All of those backlinks are anchored in text related to government loans but people are going to click through to a website based on private loans. The search engines have already determined that the website is about government loans, but will now have to take time to catch on that the focus has changed. All of the work that was done getting the site recognized for that original keyword now has to be scrapped to start going after the new keyword.
