Hi,
SEO can get tricky and certain things that seem like they will help your rankings will actually hurt them. SEO is powerful and if you arm yourself with even the basics, you will have a huge advantage over most other websites. Today, almost everybody does research online on products they are interested in. There are millions of searches done per day so the higher your site ranks for a high volume keyword the more traffic you will receive. The simple equation is high ranking = money. If you are new to SEO or have been taught wrong then this article will be a life savior because it teaches you what to avoid. SEO is about flowing with the search engine's algorithm so any "shortcut" and black hat methods will usually backfire after awhile.

Images can greatly enhance the look and feel of your site, but too many can actually damage it. You could actually lower your search engine rankings by having too many images and not enough room for search engine friendly content. When you see text written on images, it's not going to have the same impact as the plain text within your site's pages. Any text you have showing within images can't be read by the search engines, which means they can't use those words for SEO purposes. Of course, some graphics are a good idea, so be sure you enter your niche's keywords within the ALT tags for each image displayed. Search engines are able to read your ALT attributes, so having your keywords in there can assist your ranking in the long run. Don't make the mistake of stealing the content from other websites, it's not ethical. If you just copied content from someone else, it's not going to do you a bit of good. While nobody may notice at first, people will soon recognize that you've stolen the content you're using. The largest downfall is that the search engines have figured out how to get around this, and they can recognize content that's been duplicated. There are filters in place for this sort of thing, and that's the last place you want your website to end up if you hope to rank high. Therefore, put in the effort to create unique content that's not only appealing to the visitors but also to the search engines.

Ignoring or overlooking the guidelines offered by the search engines is a big mistake.
That's why it's essential that you learn what those guidelines are so that you never make mistakes that penalize you with search engines. These guidelines are regularly updated by the search engines, so keeping a constant vigil will keep your website clean in their eyes. A good example of this is Google as they alter their algorithm all the time, and that's why it's important to be familiar with those changes so that you can rank as high as possible.

Who knew that SEO was such a simple beast to tame? The more quality links you build and the better you do internal linking, the higher your site will rise. It seems that Google is placing a large emphasis on the number of relevant backlinks that a site has so it would be wise to focus a little bit more of your time on getting them.
