Effective methods to get targeted traffic to your website is essential to your businesses survival in the overcrowded online marketplace. The 4 strategies in this article will allow you to examine techniques that work toward getting you targeted and recurring traffic.

Your ultimate goal should be to keep your website visitors interest and to maintain that until you can convert them into customers. The Internet is constantly overflowing with people looking for something, some are looking to be educated, some to be entertained and still others, are looking to buy. This article will show you ways you can appeal to the masses by providing more for each of your visitors.

1. Entertain

Take a break from your usual 'sales pitch' attitude and spend some time entertaining your visitor. If your website is about making money, give your visitor a few stories or anecdotes about your experience in making money online.

A great way to achieve this is send your visitor first to your blog or a page that will tell a few stories about your experience on how you make money online in your home business. You could use a funny anecdote, a cartoon, or a true-life story.

People love to be entertained, that is why it is important to first be casual and take a few moments to let your reader get to know you before you send him to a sales page. The strategy of getting to know your customer first is important in any business. Take for instance in the real world; if you had a store and a customer came in, would you greet them and maybe ask how they are doing?

2. Inform

Aside from entertainment, the second most important attribute about a customer is he/she wants to be educated. Your customer is looking for information that will help them solve a problem, answer a question, fix something, or improve their life.

As a merchant, you need to inform and educate your customer, so that they have a better understanding of their needs and how you can resolve their situation. In the case of a visitor to your money making website, you should not only tell them what they already know, (they need to make money), you should educate them on HOW you are going to help them reach that goal.

A well-informed and educated consumer is a repeat customer! If you intend to upsell or add products to your line, a customer that you have satisfied in the past will undoubtedly purchase again. Market statistics prove that repeat customers are the best and richest source of income for any business.

3. Tools

Use the tools you are familiar with to bring additional traffic to your site. Tools that you can implement are social bookmaking, social media, and forums, articles and blog posts. These tools should not be used as a sales pitch, rather as a means to excite, intrigue, or gain the interest of your customer enough so that they will want to visit your site.

Post a blog about something interesting that is related to your particular product, with a link to your sales page at the end. In other words, if you are in the making money online business, you can 'tweet' a link to a funny story on your blog and then provide a link in your post to your sales page.

The advantage to using a blog or article first to attract your customer is that you can easily bookmark the story on multiple bookmarking sites, thereby increasing your visibility.

4. Target

The most important and by far the most vital aspect of traffic to your website is that this traffic needs to be targeted. You want to ensure that the traffic you are attracting through your efforts is actually interested in your product, service, or website.

There is very little chance of converting traffic that has no interest in your product. In other words, you would not go to the auto parts store to buy groceries, would you? Targeting your traffic to your specific line of products will ensure a much higher conversion rate and save you time wasted on efforts that do not convert.
