Almost every webmasters use web analytic codes such as Google Analytics and SiteMeter to study their website's traffic trends including visitors, keywords, landing pages, pageviews, referring sites and so on.

Web analytics main purpose is to evaluate audiences online behavior so that further development and tweaks can be done to the particular website if any weak spots are to be found by the webmaster himself. Actually, there are two classifications of measurement in which one is called "off-site" and the other is named "on-site" web analytics.

It does not matter for anyone whether they own a website or not, off-site web analytics will measure the Internet occurrence entirely. It is basically used to determine the visibility, connection, and opportunity, in common means the share of voice, leaving comments and attraction of potential visitors respectively. Where share of voice acts like rating on websites, while connection is all about interchanging messages in the comment boxes and finally, opportunity can mean the possibility of customers spending more time as well as money on the particular subject.

Whereas business website owners will use on-site web analytics to track visitor's movement throughout the site. Usually this tracker is used to evaluate pages that had the most visitors and to further determine pages that are able stimulate potential customers to purchase items from there. In short, this analytic can improve a website performance by telling how webmasters should be placing their advertisements, likewise a main key to generate more sales.

Off-site and on-site web analytics are like a macro and micro tools. A combination of both tools is highly recommended if webmasters were looking to boost their product sales effectively. Since there is no 100% accuracy in an analytic report, consider using them both to get a more complete series of data.
