What is a bounce rate? Empty What is a bounce rate?

Hi Everybody,
This refers to the percentage of visitors who arrive at your website via the home page or an interior page but leave without going any further into the site. The lower your bounce rates the better as this means that a higher number of people are choosing to stay on your website.

Basically, if you have a bounce rate of 60 per cent or more then you clearly have a problem.

Reasons for leaving a website

There are various reasons why visitors leave a website which include:

• Out of date content

• Content which is not relevant to the visitor's needs or is poorly written.

• Flash intro page

• Difficult to use menu system

• Poor or illogical navigation

The average visitor spends less than 10 seconds on a web page so your site needs to capture their attention immediately. Make it easy for visitors to find what they want and ensure that they can navigate their way around your site without any fuss.

Your aim is to drive more traffic (more visitors) to your website and once there, persuade them to take some form of action. So, help your visitors to do so which will pay dividends in the form of increased conversion rates.

Bounce rate (sometimes confused with exit rate) is a term used in web site traffic analysis. It essentially represents the percentage of initial visitors to a site who "bounce" away to a different site, rather than continue on to other pages within the same site.
